Course Content

Radar Observation, ARPA & Plotting – ARPA
Radar observation, ARPA, and plotting training provides essential knowledge and practical skills for the safe operation of marine radar and Automatic Radar Plotting Aids (ARPA) systems in accordance with STCW requirements. Participants will learn how to: • Operate marine radar equipment effectively • Interpret radar displays and targets • Conduct manual and automatic radar plotting • Assess collision risks using ARPA functions • Track targets and determine CPA/TCPA • Apply COLREGs during radar navigation • Navigate safely in restricted visibility • Understand radar limitations and errors • Improve bridge watchkeeping and situational awareness This module combines theoretical knowledge and practical radar plotting exercises to support safe navigation and effective bridge operations onboard vessels.
