This course is designed to provide deck officers and maritime professionals with the knowledge and practical skills required for safe and effective operation of Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) in accordance with STCW and IMO requirements.
Course Objectives
• Understand ECDIS principles and system architecture
• Operate electronic navigational charts safely and efficiently
• Perform route planning and route monitoring using ECDIS
• Understand alarms, safety settings, and system limitations
• Apply correct chart correction and updating procedures
• Integrate ECDIS with radar, AIS, GPS, and other bridge systems
• Enhance situational awareness and navigational safety
• Comply with STCW and IMO ECDIS operational standards
