The Chief Mate course is designed to provide advanced training for deck officers seeking certification as Chief Mate on seagoing ships. The programme covers voyage planning, ship handling, cargo operations, stability, maritime law, meteorology, bridge resource management, leadership and managerial skills, emergency response, and safety management systems. Participants will develop the competence required to manage deck operations, supervise personnel, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the Master in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. The course is delivered in accordance with the requirements of STCW Regulation II/2 and prepares candidates for certification as Chief Mate on vessels of 500 GT or more.
