This Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW) course is designed to provide seafarers with the knowledge, practical skills, and competence required to perform navigational watchkeeping duties safely and effectively on board merchant vessels.
The course is delivered in accordance with the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention), including STCW Code Section A-II/4 and the applicable IMO model course guidelines.
Training covers steering duties, lookout responsibilities, helm orders, bridge watchkeeping procedures, use of navigational equipment, emergency response, communication procedures, safe working practices, and compliance with international maritime safety regulations.
Participants will gain understanding of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG 1972), bridge teamwork principles, pollution prevention awareness, and operational procedures required for maintaining a safe navigational watch.
